Description

Every wanted a donut that was better for you? Trying to get more protein in your diet? Then these Chocolate Protein Donuts are topped with a chocolate glaze and have a cake like texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup flour (I use King Arthur Gluten-Free)
  • ¾ cup chocolate protein powder (I use Orgain Chocolate)
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar (or alternative sweetener)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray your silicone donut pan with cooking spray and dust lightly with flour.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the dry ingredients (flour, protein powder, baking powder, and baking soda).
  3. Add the wet ingredients: Stir in the almond milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Whisk until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  4. Transfer the batter into a Ziploc bag, cut off one corner, and pipe the batter into the silicone donut pan, filling each donut cavity about halfway.
  5. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until a toothpick or fork comes out clean. Keep an eye on the donuts and add time as needed based on your ingredients.
  6. Whisk together the glaze ingredients until smooth. For a thicker glaze, add more powdered sugar.
  7. Once the donuts are cooled, dip each one in the glaze, or drizzle it on top for a lighter finish.
