Easy Homemade Guacamole

Who doesn’t love a delicious bowl of fresh guacamole? It’s the perfect addition to any celebration, from Cinco de Mayo fiestas to casual Taco Tuesdays. Today, I’m excited to share with you my go-to recipe for homemade guacamole using simple ingredients that are likely already in your kitchen!

I am guilty of having simply purchased packaged guacamole only to be disappointed by the lack of flavor and freshness. A few years ago I was inspired after going to Mexico and realizing how simple, cheap and fast it was to make it yourself and I haven’t looked back. I think about being at the pool or on the beach every time I make it, no matter what time of year, it connects me to those wonderful vacation memories.

I hope you find the same inspiration and realize how easy it is to make this your own!

Ingredients & Substitutions

Here are the core ingredients, you can add or omit to make it to your liking. This makes a batch perfect for 4 people but feel free to increase if you’re making this for a party!

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1/4 cup diced onion (I use white but if you want a stronger taste i’d suggest using red onion)
  • 1/2 cup chopped cherry tomatoes (I love the sweetness and color this provides but you can use any tomatoes)
  • Juice of 1 lime (fresh or bottled)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Handful of fresh cilantro, chopped (can be omitted but I feel fancy when I use it!)

Tips for Success

  • Use ripe avocados for the best flavor and texture. I buy them in bulk at Costco and put them in the fridge to keep them just the right ripeness for weeks!
  • If you like a spicy kick, add Trader Joe’s Chili Oil
  • Cover the guacamole with plastic wrap directly touching the surface to prevent browning if not serving immediately.
  • Make yourself a mocktail or cocktail to enjoy with your guacamole!

Serving Suggestions

  • Grab yourself Siete Grain Free Avocado Oil Chips, (regular or hint of lime are my go-to) and snack away!
  • Pair this homemade guacamole with your favorite tacos for a quick and easy weeknight meal.
  • Use it as a topping for grilled chicken or fish to add a fresh and healthy twist.
  • Spread it on toast or sandwiches for a flavorful alternative to mayo or mustard.

There you have it!

A simple and customizable guacamole recipe that’s perfect for any occasion! Whether you’re celebrating Cinco de Mayo, hosting a taco night, or just craving a healthy snack, this homemade guacamole is sure to impress. Give it a try and let me know what you think in the comments below.

Enjoy easy homemade guacamole for Cinco de Mayo or Taco Tuesday! Made with fresh ingredients, this recipe is quick, healthy, and delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1/4 cup diced onion (I use white but if you want a stronger taste i’d suggest using red onion)

  • Juice of 1 lime (fresh or bottled)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Avocados: Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium-sized bowl.
  2. Mash the Avocado: Use a fork to mash the avocados until they reach your desired consistency. Some prefer chunky guacamole, while others like it smoother.
  3. Add the remaining Ingredients: Stir in the diced onion, chopped cherry tomatoes, lime juice, salt, pepper, and chopped cilantro. Mix well to combine all the flavors.
  4. Adjust seasoning: Taste the guacamole and adjust the seasoning as needed. Add more salt, pepper, or lime juice to suit your preferences.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Transfer the guacamole to a serving bowl and serve immediately with Siete Avocado Oil Chips for a delicious snack, or use it to top your favorite taco recipe. You can also spread it on sandwiches for a burst of flavor!
