Ingredients

I like to use an ingredient ratio of 1:1 for this green smoothie recipe. The exception being you guessed it with the greens that I choose to double for the added nutrients. This works well, especially if your blender is larger as the greens tend to blend down in size unlike the frozen fruit.

  • 1 Protein Source: Protein powder, Greek yogurt (I like this one from Chobani), or a combination of both.
  • 2 cups Greens: Spinach, kale, or your favorite leafy greens.
  • 1 cup Frozen or Fresh Fruit: Choose from options like bananas, berries, mangoes, or pineapple. My go-to has been the new Cherry Berry Blend from Target’s Good & Gather brand, tastes great with chocolate protein.
  • 1 cup Milk of Choice: Use dairy milk, almond milk, coconut milk, or any other milk alternative.

Tips for Success

  • Customize the green smoothie to suit your taste preferences and dietary needs. Feel free to swap in different fruits, greens, or add-ins based on what you have on hand or what you enjoy.
  • Optional Add-Ins: Fiber-rich ingredients like flaxseeds or chia seeds, nut butter for added protein and healthy fats, or other superfoods like spirulina or matcha powder.
  • If you’re short on time in the morning, you can prepare green smoothie packs ahead of time by pre-measuring your ingredients and storing them in individual bags in the freezer. Then, simply dump the contents of the bag into the blender when you’re ready to make your smoothie.
