Homemade Pizza

These homemade pizza tips will make it easy to level up your dinner! Pair them with wine for date night or board games for more family fun.

Finding the right crust or dough

There are thousands of options when it comes to pizza crust for homemade pizza. There’s store-bought that is frozen or pre-cooked. Buy a boxed make your own dough kit, find a store with fresh pre-made dough, or if you’re feeling really talented you can make your own dough from scratch.

Since I choose to eat gluten-free, I typically look for a frozen cauliflower crust, or as of late, I pick up a frozen dough ball by Manini at my local Sprouts. It’s easy to roll, bakes well, and tastes as close as I have ever gotten to “real” pizza dough.

How you choose the right crust is up to you, it could be a preference, the time you have, or your budget! That’s the beauty of homemade pizza, the options are almost endless.

Toppings, Toppings, Toppings

My favorite part of homemade pizza is the toppings. Depending on my mood sometimes I like to get super creative, other times I stick to the basics. In the photo below you’ll see the toppings on my latest pizza, where I tried to incorporate as many vegetables as I could.

Here are some other ideas to try as well.

  • Pepperoni, Proscuitto, and Arugula
  • Pepperoni, Sausage, Mushroom, and Artichoke
  • Chicken, Bacon, Mozzarella, and Spinach

Preparation Method

If you’re like me I used to think there was only one option for homemade pizza and that was to use the oven.

Since we moved however and purchased a Traeger we’ve discovered that we can make “wood-fired” pizzas in no time at all! The best part is that because the Traeger is a smoker you get all sorts of additional flavor from the pellets you choose to use. If you have a Trager check out this article for “How to Grill Pizza on a Pellet Grill”.

Another method on our radar is the Ooni Pizza oven, I think that might be our next big purchase to mix things up!

Perfect Pairing

Now for the finale, once you’ve figured out your homemade pizza plan it’s time to think about how you want the evening to go.

Are you looking to create romance for a date?Add a bottle of wine or dessert!

Looking to do something fun as a family?Grab a board game, or pick a movie to watch after making your pizzas.

Share your creations below in the comments! I would love to see what toppings you picked and the pairings you tried.
