There is always a point in summer when zucchini starts showing up faster than the ideas for using it. This BBQ White Beans & Summer Squash recipe is one of the easiest answers: smoky, saucy white beans with tender zucchini and yellow squash, all made in one skillet in about 15 minutes.
I used True Made Foods Pitmaster Original BBQ Sauce and Primal Palate Meat & Potatoes Seasoning to keep the flavor big without turning a simple side into a project. It works as a plant-forward main or a hearty BBQ side, which is exactly the kind of flexibility I want from a weeknight recipe.

If you are leaning into late-summer produce, my Santorini Salad is an easy fresh pairing, and Quick and Easy Mediterranean White Bean Skillet gives you another white-bean dinner in a completely different flavor direction.

Ingredients
White beans make the dish satisfying enough to stand on its own, while zucchini and yellow squash keep it seasonal and fresh. True Made Foods Pitmaster Original BBQ Sauce brings the smoky-sweet flavor and Primal Palate Meat & Potatoes Seasoning rounds everything out.

Instructions
- Step 1: Prep the beans and squash. Drain and rinse the white beans, then cut the zucchini and yellow squash into similarly sized pieces.
- Step 2: Season everything. Toss the beans and vegetables with the BBQ sauce and seasoning in the exact quantities listed in the recipe card.
- Step 3: Cook covered. Add everything to a large skillet or Dutch oven and cook covered for the first 5 minutes.
- Step 4: Finish uncovered. Stir and cook over medium-high heat for another 5 minutes, until the squash is tender. A silicone spatula helps stir everything without breaking up the beans.
Top tip: Keep the squash pieces similar in size and do not overextend the covered cook time. The goal is tender vegetables, not squash that disappears into the sauce.
Equipment
Use a large skillet or Dutch oven so the beans and squash have enough room to cook evenly. A silicone spatula is useful for stirring gently, and storage containers make leftovers easy to pack up.

Store leftovers refrigerated in airtight storage containers and reheat gently in a skillet or microwave until hot. Avoid overcooking during reheating so the squash keeps some texture.
FAQ
What can I make with white beans and summer squash?
A quick skillet like this is an easy way to turn both into a complete dish. White beans add substance while zucchini and yellow squash bring freshness and texture.
It can be either. Serve it alone or with a grain for a light plant-forward meal, or use it as a hearty side for a summer BBQ.
Reheat gently in a skillet or microwave until hot. Try not to overcook the squash so it keeps some texture.
