Crispy wings without deep frying—or turning the kitchen into a whole production? That's my kind of game-day food. These crispy chicken wings have that golden outside and juicy center you want from a wing, with just 10 minutes of prep and 16 minutes in the air fryer.
I made them with US Wellness Meats chicken wings and Lakanto Date Sugar with Monk Fruit. I keep coming back to US Wellness Meats because the quality feels a step above without making an everyday recipe feel out of reach. I also really appreciate the emphasis they place on caring for the animals and environment behind the food—that matters a lot to me when choosing meat for my family.

They're an easy win for football season, casual entertaining, or nights when appetizers-for-dinner sounds better than an actual dinner. If you're building a game-day spread, add my Easy BBQ Citrus Brisket Sliders or Crispy Air Fryer Chickpeas to the table.

Ingredients
This is a pretty short ingredient list, which makes this a win-win. US Wellness Meats chicken wings are the base, while Lakanto Date Sugar with Monk Fruit adds just a touch of sweetness to balance the savory seasoning from Primal Palate without turning these into sticky wings. Pair it all with Pitmaster BBQ Sauce for dipping and you're ready to go.

Instructions

- Step 1: Prep and season the wings. Follow the exact oil and seasoning quantities in the recipe card and coat the wings evenly.

- Step 2: Arrange in the air fryer. Keep the wings in a single layer with some room around them. Crowding makes it harder for the hot air to circulate and crispy is the whole reason we're here.

- Step 3: Air fry at 400°F. Cook for 16 minutes, flipping halfway through. Silicone-tipped tongs are handy here because they make flipping easy without scratching the air-fryer basket.

- Step 4: Check and serve. Make sure the chicken is fully cooked before serving. An instant-read thermometer is the easiest way to check doneness.
Top tip: Don't overcrowd the air fryer. If your basket is small, two crispy batches beat one crowded batch every time. I use the Ninja Dual Airfryer (affiliate link) which allows me to do 2 batches at once, or a side at the same time.
Variations
I like the basic seasoning because it gives you options after the wings are cooked.
- BBQ wings: Toss the finished wings with True Made Foods Pit Master BBQ Sauce.
- Classic dipping wings: Leave them seasoned and serve with a simple ranch or blue cheese.
Equipment
The air fryer does most of the work here, so basket size can affect how many batches you need to cook.
I also recommend silicone-tipped tongs for flipping the wings and an instant-read thermometer for checking that the chicken is safely cooked without having to cut into every piece.
Storage
Store leftover cooked wings in an airtight container in the refrigerator. For reheating, I'd use the air fryer again rather than the microwave when possible so you can bring some of that crispy texture back.
FAQ
Give the wings enough room for hot air to circulate, use the amount of oil specified in the recipe, and flip them halfway through cooking. If your air-fryer basket is small, cook in batches rather than crowding it.
For this recipe, the wings cook for 16 minutes at 400°F, flipping halfway through. Air fryers and wing sizes can vary, so always check that the chicken is fully cooked before serving.
Yes, for this recipe. Flipping halfway helps the wings cook more evenly and prevents them from sticking to the tray.
Absolutely. I prefer air frying the wings until they're crispy first and adding sauce afterward so you don't sacrifice the texture. True Made Foods Pit Master BBQ Sauce is an easy option here.
